Mrs. Marissa McMickens-Hurm is in her first year of teaching at Hilton Head Island High School and is excited to be leading the dance program. Originally from Louisiana, Mrs. Hurm began dancing at the age of five and went on to earn a double major in Dance Performance and Musical Theatre from Northwestern State University. She later received her Master’s in Business Education from Lincoln Memorial University.

 

She has performed professionally at several theme parks, the Smoky Mountain Opry (where she had the opportunity to meet Dolly Parton), and with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Beyond performing, she has choreographed for middle and high school musicals and taught at dance studios, including training competitive dancers.

 

Outside of the studio, Mrs. Hurm enjoys cheering on LSU football, singing in the praise and worship band at church alongside her husband, and exploring new restaurants and local spots. She and her husband—who she met while performing—are proud parents to a 1.5-year-old son. She is thrilled to be part of the Seahawk family and looks forward to sharing her love of dance with her students this year.
